Interview No Show
This policy applies when a student does not appear for a scheduled interview. Failure to show for a scheduled interview is unprofessional and jeopardizes Duquesne University's reputation in the employment community as well as your own.

When a student does not appear for a scheduled interview:

You will lose full access to Handshake until you:
• Meet with your Career Consultant to discuss appropriate professional behavior (make an "interview no show" appointment by calling 412-396-6644 or visiting the Center for Career Development);
• The information from this meeting will be taken into consideration and additional action may be required on your part based on the discretion of your Career Consultant including:
       - Write a letter of apology to the recruiter who expected to interview you;
       - Cc your career consultant when you send your letter of apology to the recruiter;
• Consequences may include indefinite loss of full access to Handshake and/or your dismissal from the On-campus Interview Program.
• Violation of the No Show Policy may result in the Center for Career Development sharing your actions with your academic department.

Interview Cancellation
This policy applies when a student cancels an interview with less than a 24-hour notice. Sudden cancellations may not give the employer sufficient time to find another student to fill your interview appointment slot.

When a student cancels a scheduled interview without sufficient notice:

You may lose full access to Handshake until you:
• Meet with your Career Consultant to discuss appropriate professional behavior (make an "interview no show" appointment by calling 412-396-6644 or visiting the Center for Career Development);
• The information from this meeting will be taken into consideration and additional action may be required on your part based on the discretion of your Career Consultant. Repeated late cancellations may result in the indefinite loss of full access to Handshake and/or your dismissal from the On-campus Interview Program.
• Violation of the Cancellation Policy may result in sharing your actions with your academic department.

Misrepresentation
Falsifying data such as your GPA, dates of graduation, major/minor, work experience, eligibility to work in the United States or other information is unethical and in violation of Duquesne University's Code of Student conduct. Employers have the right to withdraw an offer or to terminate your employment for misrepresentation.

If you falsify documents or misrepresent yourself to any employer, whether through our recruiting program or in your independent job search: 

• You will be contacted via email by your Career Consultant regarding this occurance. You will be asked to revise the document or rectify the incident with the employer. This shoule be resolved within one week of receiving the Consultant's email.

If you do not take the appropriate action within the prescribes timeframe, you may lose full access to Handshake until you:

• Meet with your Career Consultant to discuss appropriate professional behavior (make an "interview no show" appointment by calling 412-396-6644 or visiting the Center for Career Development);
• The information from this meeting will be taken into consideration and additional action may be required on your part based on the discretion of your Career Consultant. Consequences may include indefinite loss of full access to Handshake and/or your dismissal from the On-campus Interview program.
• Violation of the Misrepresentation Policy may result in the Center for Career Development sharing your actions with your academic department.

Reneging on Job or Internship Offers
Once you accept a job or internship offer, whether via our recruiting program or in your independent job search, you are expected to withdraw completely from the job search process. If you are uncertain as to whether you should accept an offer, please consult with your Career Consultant. Reneging is unprofessional and jeopardizes Duquesne University's reputation in the employment community as well as your own.

If you renege on an internship or job offer:

You will lose full access to Handshake until you:
• Meet with your Career Consultant to discuss appropriate professional behavior (make an "interview no show" appointment by calling 412-396-6644 or visiting the Center for Career Development);
• The information from this meeting will be taken into consideration and additional action may be required on your part based on the discretion of your Career Consultant. Consequences may include indefinite loss of full access to Handshake and/or your dismissal from the On-campus Interview program.
• Violation of the Reneging Policy may result in the Center for Career Development sharing your actions with your academic department.
