Celebrate the people, traditions and Spiritan values that unite the Duquesne community during
Heritage Week 2026.

Hosted by the Division of Mission and Identity in collaboration with the Division of Student Life, the weeklong celebration honors the Spiritans—the founding congregation of Duquesne University—and the mission and values that continue to guide the institution today.

Scheduled from Sunday, Sept. 27, through Friday, Oct. 2, some of this year’s events include the annual Heritage Week 5K; the Heritage Week Luncheon featuring one of Duquesne’s newest Spiritans, the Rev. Marc Whelan, C.S.Sp., who will share his personal story and vocation journey; and a celebration of the University’s 148th birthday on Academic Walk.

Heritage Week will also feature a special liturgy commemorating the founding of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit and a wine tasting fundraiser supporting Spiritan missions around the world.

Whether you’re participating in a longtime favorite activity or attending for the first time, Heritage Week offers meaningful opportunities to connect with colleagues, celebrate Duquesne’s mission and learn more about the Spiritan tradition.

Visit the Heritage Week webpage for the full schedule of events.
