12th Annual SBDC Conference Draws Area Entrepreneurs

A business-building tradeshow, several workshops and two dynamic keynote speakers will be among the highlights of the 12th annual Entrepreneur’s Growth Conference on Thursday, June 10. The event, presented by Duquesne University’s Small Business Development Center, will be held in the Duquesne Union from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“The conference is a great avenue for small business owners to spend time away from their offices generating new ideas for growth based on listening to our speakers, networking with other business owners and gaining an overall sense of what’s happening in the Pittsburgh business region today,” said Christine Hughes, SBDC training manager.

Ed Stack, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Pittsburgh-based Dick’s Sporting Goods, will deliver the luncheon keynote, discussing business leadership and organizational growth. Over the last 33 years, he has led his company’s growth from just two stores in upstate New York to 420 stores in 40 states today.

Roger Byford, co-founder, chairman and CEO of Vocollect Inc., will deliver the breakfast keynote address. Vocollect is the world leader in voice solutions for mobile workers.

Conference attendees will have the opportunity to explore exhibitor displays at the tradeshow and participate in any of the workshops. Among the workshop topics to be covered:

  • Building Wealth: Strategies to Maximize the Value of Your Company
  • eMarketing for Every Business: 10 Steps to Turning the Web Into Your #1 Seller
  • Inspirational Success Stories from Entrepreneurs On the Rise
  • I Fought the Law: Today’s Top Legal Challenges for Small Business
