Animal Planet’s Victoria Stilwell Presents The Power of Positive Dog Training

Victoria Stilwell, renowned dog trainer and star of the Animal Planet show It’s Me or the Dog, will discuss The Power of Positive Training on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Duquesne University Union Ballroom.

The School of Law’s Animal Law Society, in collaboration with the Coalition to Adopt, Rehome and Match Abandoned Animals (CARMAA), is sponsoring the event. Admission to Stilwell’s lecture is $40. Tickets are also available to attend a special Meet and Mingle with Stilwell and VIP lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. These $125 tickets include admission to the lecture and the opportunity to meet Stilwell, who will be available for photos and to sign copies of her books.

Stilwell is known around the world for her core philosophy of teaching dogs with kindness, no matter what the breed or problem. She will discuss how to better understand and strengthen the bond with your canine and present cutting-edge solutions for dog behavior issues. In addition, she will give a behind-the-scenes perspective of her popular show It’s Me or the Dog, on which she visits homes to diagnose pet problems and provide practical yet positive training and solutions. Stilwell filmed more than 100 episodes for the show in the UK and the United States.

A native of Wimbledon, England, Stilwell is a member of the U.S. Association of Pet Dog Trainers and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. She is author of It’s Me or the Dog: How to Have the Perfect Pet, Fat Dog Slim: How to Have a Healthy, Happy Pet and her brand new book, Train Your Dog Positively. Victoria also served as a judge on the CBS show Greatest American Dog, and her work is published regularly in various magazines and journals.
