Tech Quickstart Guide

MultiPass

Your MultiPass account grants you access to DORI, email, Canvas and Wi-Fi. During the setup process, you will be provided with your MultiPass username and create your password. Go to duq.edu/multipass to set up your MultiPass account.

Dori

The Duquesne online resources and information (DORI) portal is the central hub for information and resources at Duquesne University. You can use DORI to access resources such as your class schedule, final grades, course booklist and CASHNet. Go to duq.edu/dori to sign into DORI.

University Email

All students receive a Duquesne University email account for official correspondence from Duquesne University faculty and staff. You can access your email account by visiting duq.edu/mail or signing into DORI and clicking the Mail icon located in the top right corner. In addition, you can set up your email account on mobile devices and email clients. Canvas

Canvas is Duquesne University’s academic platform for conducting online courses, providing materials for face-to-face classes and moderating organizations. You can access Canvas by visiting duq.edu/canvas or signing into DORI and clicking the Canvas icon located in the top right corner. You can also access Canvas on your mobile device using the free Canvas Student app.

Microsoft Office

Students can download Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, for free on up to five personal devices. Go to How To: Install Microsoft Office for download instructions.

Cloud Storage

All students have access to 1TB of cloud storage through Microsoft OneDrive for Business. With OneDrive for Business, you can upload files and share them classmates or anyone outside of the University. To access your OneDrive for Business storage space, go to duq.edu/mail and click the OneDrive icon.

You also have access to free cloud storage through Box. With Box, you can easily collaborate, upload files and share information through any device—desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone. Visit duq.edu/box to sign into your Duquesne Box account.

DuqNet Wi-Fi

DuqNet, Duquesne University’s high-speed wireless network, provides wireless connectivity across all campus buildings and in many outdoor areas. You connect to DuqNet using your MultiPass credentials. For connection instructions, go to Wi-Fi Network.

DuqNet Internet of Things (IoT)

DuqNet IoT is a wireless network designed for gaming consoles and streaming devices such as Apple TV, Xbox, PlayStation and Roku. Students living on campus can register up to four enterprise-capable devices for use on DuqNet IoT by visiting How To: Connect a Device to DuqNet IoT.

Xfinity on Campus

Xfinity On Campus offers resident students the ability to stream TV and content directly to their laptop, desktop, and mobile devices. Resident students can use their MultiPass credentials to sign into over 90 “TV Anywhere” apps, watch live TV and access thousands of On Demand shows and movies while on campus. Computer Labs

Students have access to several computer labs across campus. These computers are equipped with core software such as Microsoft Office, SPSS, Adobe Reader, EndNote and more. You sign into a lab computer using your MultiPass credentials. Go to Service - Public Computer Labs for lab hours and locations.

Printing on Campus

Students receive an annual print quota of $90, that can be used in any of the computer labs across campus. Your print quota is renewed yearly in July, with the option to purchase additional pages as needed throughout the year.

You can also use Lab Print to print from your personal devices, such as laptops and tablets, to computer lab printers. Go to How To: Print (Students) for instructions on using Lab Print.

Safe Computing

Duquesne promotes a safe computing environment for students, faculty and staff. You can stay safe by:

  • Enrolling in Duo, the University’s multi-factor authentication application.
  • Running current operating system updates
  • Installing anti-virus software
  • Backing up data using removable media or cloud storage
  • Never sharing personal or private information with an unauthorized person or system
  • Identifying and not responding to phishing emails.

Duo Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security approach that uses two factors to authenticate your identity when signing into a website, application or other online service. These factors include:

  • Something you know (a username or password)
  • Something you have (a smartphone or security key).
Go to How To: Enroll in Duo MFA to enroll in Duo MFA. Devices that can be enrolled in Duo include mobile devices, USB security keys and hardware tokens. CTS recommends enrolling a smartphone with the Duo mobile app installed.
