The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures seeks enthusiastic, creative and engaging Teaching Assistant Professors, non-tenure track, to teach all levels of the undergraduate Spanish curriculum and Spanish courses for various professional needs. This position includes three (3) continuing appointments, starting mid-August, 2018. The successful candidates will contribute to the advancement of departmental goals, assessment, and extracurricular initiatives. These are full-time appointments with full benefits. After six years of continuous full-time instruction, the faculty members may apply for promotion. Area of specialization open. Ability and willingness to work collegially in a multi-language department are essential. 4-4 teaching load. Duties include developing and teaching face-to-face as well as online classes, recruiting, mentoring and contributing to the growth of the undergraduate Spanish program. Commitment to continued professional growth expected. Travel support available to deliver papers at conferences.
The successful candidates will be expected to participate constructively in a variety of curricular and extracurricular departmental functions, serve on committees and perform other academic and service duties, as assigned. Availability to accompany student groups abroad desirable.
- Ph.D. in Spanish by May 31, 2018
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English
- Significant experience in and commitment to teaching Spanish language in a college setting
