Biography

Anita Showalter, DO, FACOOG (Dist) is serving Duquense University College of Osteopathic Medicine as Chair of Specialty Medicine and Division Chief of OBGYN.  She is a graduate of Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) and completed her residency in OBGYN at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.  She also received a Master of Art in Bioethics from Trinity University in Deerfield, Illinois.  Dr. Showalter has over 25 years of clinical experience in women’s health and over 16 years of experience in academic medicine.  She was a founding faculty member for Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, Washington where she also served as Associate Dean for Clinical Education.  Her leadership roles have included the Board of Directors of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME), the Board of Trustees of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOOG), and service on several committees of the American Osteopathic Association.  She has been a member of the Washington State Medical Association Curriculum Committee and served as president of the Yakima County Medical Society.  Awards have included the ACOOG Mentor of the Year and OU-HCOM’s Outstanding Osteopathic Mentor.  Her passion is to teach sensitive care and proficient use of osteopathic principles in women’s health.
