Teaching in the Learning Communities is a natural transition because she has been engaged in service work facilitating creative writing workshops at the Pennsylvania Organization for Women in Early Recovery (POWER). Prior to moving to Pittsburgh, she taught composition, rhetoric, literature, and creative writing, while obtaining her M.F.A. in Poetry from Syracuse University. As a graduate student she had the opportunity to serve on the staff of the literary journal Salt Hill and teach in the university's B.F.A. program, the English program and the Raymond Carver Reading Series.
