Research foci center on three areas of educational leadership: 1) professional preparation programs for school and teacher leaders and the reform efforts that guide these programs; 2) organizational change that takes place in development of new leadership programs and the roles of faculty and university leadership; and 3) teacher education programs, teacher leaders, and the policies that govern each. Within professional preparation, research focuses on current national efforts to redesign the education doctorate and includes research on principles and outcomes of preparation programs, and institutional processes to develop these programs. Within organizational change, research focuses on how program change is adopted and disseminated in these institutions as well as the roles of faculty and university leadership in the process. Research in this area has primarily focused on US schools of education and national education reforms in Paraguay. Within teacher education, research focuses on types of preparation, teacher professionalization, teacher leader roles in national reform, and teachers unions. Research in this area has focused in Latin America with research completed both individually and with the International Teacher Educators Network-Organization of American States.
