Duquesne University Athletics is excited to present Education Day!

The Department of Athletics has teamed up with the School of Education to encourage early college awareness for Pittsburgh area K-8 students positive through downloadable pre-field trip activities, a student led campus tour/scavenger hunt, and giving your students an opportunity to ask DU Athletics coaches and athletes to share what college is like.

  • Learn about what going to college is like
  • Attend a basketball game
  • Meet college students
  • Have fun!

Bus drop-off and pick-up is on-campus, on Bluff Street near Rooney Field.

Schedule and Activities
9-9:30 a.m. Schools arrive to A.J. Palumbo Center
9:30-10:30 a.m.
Campus Tour Scavenger Hunt-Learn about what it's like to be a college student!
10:30-11 a.m.
  • Be interviewed answering the question "What do you want to be when you grow up" and possibly see your response on the video-board during timeouts!
  • Poster Competition Judging
11 a.m.
Tip Off - Saint Francis Red Flash v. Duquesne University Dukes

 

Additional Info

Poster competition Encourage your students to create a poster for the Duquesne Women's Basketball team and bring it to the game. The best poster will win a prize pack and the student will get to go on the court at halftime.

Most school spirit contest Each class is encouraged to come dressed with the most school spirit (either your school or Duquesne). The winning class will get to go on the court at halftime and get their picture taken with our mascot!

Cost
  • Education Day is Buck Day!
  • Tickets to attend the game are $1 per student.
  • Students can bring a bagged lunch or pay $3, which includes cost of ticket, hotdog, and a drink.
