Campus WatchPublic Safety Programs
The Duquesne University Department of Public Safety offers a variety of ongoing programs designed to educate and sensitize members of the community to crime prevention and safety issues, particularly the recognition and appraisal of a crime risk and the most effective protective measures. These are offered for residence hall groups, new student orientations, student interest groups and employee training programs.

Personal safety and self-protection programs are offered to suggest risk reduction strategies in a residential environment and while walking, driving or while using public transportation. Educational programs are also offered dealing with rape awareness and avoidance (including acquaintance rape), drug and alcohol abuse, driving under the influence, vacation safety and personal property protection. A variety of pamphlets, brochures and posters are used to supplement these programs. Any individual or group interested in attending or scheduling a program is invited to contact the University Police at 412-396-4675.

A summary of reported crimes is published weekly in the student newspaper to keep the community informed of the types of situations that occur. Also, special notices are published in a timely manner to publicize violent crimes or perceived patterns of crime in a particular area, to heighten awareness and help prevent recurrences.
