The Way of Peace
Take one hour each week to explore how the practice of non-violence can be used to make significant changes in ourselves, in society and in the world.
Ten sessions will draw on the developing tradition of nonviolence in recent decades as practiced by Mohandas Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., Dorothy Day, Cesar Chavez and countless women and men in widely scattered parts of the world.
"Peacemaking is not an optional commitment. It is a requirement of our faith. We are called to be peacemakers, not by some movement of the moment, but by our Lord Jesus. The content and context of our peacemaking is not set by some political agenda or ideological program, but by the teachings of his Church."
-- The U.S. Catholic bishops, in their 1983 peace pastoral, The Challenge of Peace
How are we proactive peacemakers in this world?
For Catholics or Christians, as people of faith, we must always ask what it means to be disciples of Jesus. To more fully live this vocation of peacemaker you are invited to explore the practice of nonviolence with us.
The discussion group runs from early September to mid-November, from 4:30- 5:50 p.m in the Spiritan Campus Ministry Center. All are welcome to attend at any point during the 10 weeks.
