“From Dayton to Dover: A Brief History of the Evolution Teaching Controversy”

Edward Larson will put the teaching of evolution in public schools in historical context by tracing the development of legal efforts to restrict evolutionary teaching. He will begin with the 1925 Tennessee anti-evolution law, which spawned the legendary Scopes “Monkey Trial,” and continue through the legislative drive for balanced treatment for creationism, concluding with the current push for Intelligent Design in the classroom.
