Institute Director and former Allegheny County Forensic Science Laboratory Director and Chief Toxicologist Fred Fochtman will be joined by Institute namesake and former Allegheny County Coroner Cyril Wecht in this consideration of the scientific and legal issues involved in the nationwide medical marijuana debate. Coming quickly on the heels of Proposition 19, California's marijuana legalization ballot initiative, the seminar will also examine the drug's recreational use.

Google Scholar "Free Case Law" Presentation by Mr. Rao

Google continues to add more resources to its list of features and tools. Users can access case law and legal journals for free via Google Scholar. Visit the following link to view Mr. Dittakavi Rao's presentation on accessing Legal Opinions:

 Researchers can enter key terms, such as party name, to search for legal opinions. Similarly, key terms, like title or author can be entered to search for articles. An advanced search function allows the user to set search limits in numerous fields. Users can search all legal journals and opinions simultaneously, search only US federal court opinions, or search opinions by selecting the desired state or combination of states. The “find articles” section allows the user to assign numerous keyword strategies, as well as author, publication, and date. These features, including free and full-text access, make Google Scholar a valuable resource for law students and legal professionals.
