| October 21-23, 2009, the School of Education at Duquesne University joined Vanderbilt University, University of Southern California, and Stanford University in hosting the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) convening. Duquesne University is among an exclusive group of participating institutions to have committed themselves to collaboratively undertake a critical examination of the doctorate in education. The intent of this initiative is to redesign and transform doctoral education for the advanced preparation of education professionals. Selection to this elite group of education preparation institutions acknowledges Duquesne University as a leader in documentation of our work with reforming the education doctorate. Upon completion of the three day convening, the group was able to identify a set of working principles that will serve as a guide for universities who are ready to begin designing or redesigning their doctoral programs in education. This enables them to move to the next phase of their initiative. Learn more about the CPED initiative at http://cpedinitiative.org/ | |
