Bridget Calhoun

Bridget Calhoun, DrPH, PA-C, Associate Professor, Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies

Dr. Calhoun began her career as a physician assistant working in transplant surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. After becoming more interested in clinical research she enrolled in the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh and eventually earned a doctoral degree in infectious diseases and microbiology. For the last 11 years, she’s worked in HIV/AIDS research and has published on several HIV related topics. Due to her experience in public health and HIV/AIDS, she’s traveled four African countries and several other European countries. In addition to presenting her work internationally, Dr. Calhoun has also taught graduate level courses for the past 15 years.

Mark Freeman

Mark Freeman MBA, MEd, PA-C, Assistant Professor, Department of Physician Assistant Studies and Academic Coordinator for Physician Assistant Studies Program

Mark Freeman has been a physician assistant since 1984, graduating from the Community College of Allegheny County PA program. He received a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Biology from Washington and Jefferson College, as well as a Master's degree in Adult Education from Penn State University. In addition, he earned an MBA (health systems administration track) from Waynesburg College.  Mark initially worked clinically as a PA in Hemophilia care and research. He later worked in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and ultimately worked in Neuropsychiatry and Developmental Disabilities.  He previously served on the Board of Directors for the South Western Pennsylvania Area Health Education Center, Inc. with an interest in encouraging health professions students to work in rural and under-served communities.
