• China is playing an increasing role in global commerce and politics and understanding the Chinese legal system and its culture is vital.  Where better to gain this understanding than in China’s capital, Beijing with the first and longest running quality ABA program in Beijing?
• The Summer Study of Law in Beijing China Program, offered by the Duquesne University School of Law, is considered to be one of the best of its kind offered in the United States and provides law students from all over the world the unique opportunity to discover and learn about the legal system of China in Beijing, the center of the Chinese government.
• The first opportunity to study law in Beijing was inaugurated in 1995 by the Duquesne University School of Law, and the program has continued to expand, offering students an opportunity to experience China’s evolving legal system as one of the world’s oldest and most insular cultures opens itself up to the world.  English-speaking law students from throughout the world are introduced to the origins of the Chinese legal system, its development and current status, and the changes being made to facilitate China’s evolution from a state-controlled planned economy to a market economy.
• In the past 15 years, approximately  600 students from over 185 law schools around the world attended the program.
• The program is officially ABA approved and co-sponsored by China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), China’s largest and most prestigious law school.  The program also provides clinical and internship opportunities for students.

Eligibility

Enrollment is open to current students of American law schools and other English-speaking law schools around the world.  Each applicant must submit a letter from his or her dean certifying good standing.  Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Affordable Costs

Tuition and fees are $1,995.  Included are comprehensive course materials, welcoming and graduation banquets, and several trips to local attractions.  Estimated total essential costs are as follows:
