Reporting Child Abuse: Obligations, Procedures and Pitfalls
Friday, Jan. 20
8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Africa Room, Duquesne University
As the Penn State University scandal involving allegations of child sexual abuse and cover-up by university officials continues to unfold, the Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law will be doing its part to shed light on the broader subject matter by convening a panel of experts to discuss the legal and ethical obligations of reporting suspicions of child abuse, as well as the criminal justice procedures and some of the common pitfalls involved in pursuing such allegations.
Please join Joan Mills and Sara Gluzman, respectively the manager and a forensic interviewer at A Child's Place at Mercy; criminal defense attorney Charles R. LoPresti; Bruce Noel, intake manager for the Allegheny County Department of Children, Youth and Families; Soo Song, first assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania; and Pittsburgh Police Detective April Campbell for this timely and informative full-day program. Additional speakers may be announced at a later date.
This course is approved by the Pennsylvania CLE Board for five (5) hours of Substantive CLE credit and one (1) hour of Ethics CLE credit.

The cost of library materials continues to outpace our funding
resources. Filing fees have decreased over $40,000 in the past
two years forcing cancellation of some subscriptions. We have
therefore been required to increase our sole practitioner/small
firm fee cardholders as well as our law firm charges which still
makes us one of the lowest fee-based county law libraries in
the country for the services provided. We look forward to
assisting you with your legal research needs in the coming
year. Please do not hesitate to ask for any assistance.
Sincerely yours,
Joel Fishman, Ph.D.
