Course Description

The Criminal Advocacy Clinic provides students with an opportunity to assist in the Office of Conflicts Counsel, a joint project with the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. Students interested in a career in criminal law find the combination of classroom instruction and practical experience invaluable. Typical assignments in the Clinic include client interviews, jail visits, case planning, and preparation of pleadings and representation of clients at preliminary hearings. Students are expected to demonstrate a strong aptitude for criminal law and a commitment to public service. (6 credits)
