Certification/Licensure
Graduates of our program are eligible to take the certification exam administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) upon completion of University graduation requirements usually in the beginning of February. A felony conviction may prevent a graduate from taking this exam or obtaining state licensure. Upon passing the exam, the graduate becomes an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). Most states, including Pennsylvania, require occupational therapists to obtain licensure in order to practice. Licensure is usually contingent upon the NBCOT certification exam.
