Skywalk Dedication
September 28, 2007
The eight-story-high, steel-and-glass pedestrian bridge over Forbes Avenue was dedicated in honor of Frank and Florence Sklar.
Construction Continues
July 2007
The masonry is completed on the West and North side of the building and the East and North will be completed in the coming weeks. Window frames and glass are 80% complete on the West side and will follow the completion of the masonry. Site work (sidewalks) began in August 2007.
Duquesne University Seal Installed
December 2006
The
Duquesne University Seal was installed
on the campus side of the Forbes Avenue skywalk
tower in December.
“Topping Out” Ceremony
November 21, 2006
A cherished custom of ironworkers, “topping
out” is a traditional ceremony signaling
that a structure has reached its peak height
and the steel work is complete. Hundreds
of Duquesne employees and students attended the ceremony.
Skywalk Installation over Forbes
August 5, 2006
A
portion of Forbes Avenue near the Forbes
Garage was closed Saturday, August 5
and Sunday, August 6 to install
the skywalk between the Forbes Garage and the new Multi-Purpose
Center site.
