William Gavin
Director
Bill was Director of Recreational Sports at St. John’s University from 1996 to 2000. In 2000, he joined New York Sports Clubs, where he was General Manager at their Whitestone and Forest Hills Clubs until 2002.
In October 2002, Bill returned to St. John’s University, where served as Director of Campus Recreation. In April 2005 William became a Certified Recreational Sports Specialist.
Bill earned a bachelor’s degree in Management from St. John’s in 1995. He was a Graduate Assistant in the Recreational Sports Department and in 1997 graduated Cum Laude with an MBA in Marketing. He and his wife Gloria have a daughter, Destiny Lee.
Shannon Foster
Assitant Director
Fitness and Wellness
Shannon began her career as an exercise physiologist in the corporate fitness arena as the Director of the High Vitality Fitness Center in Tampa, Fl. She then became the Coordinator of Wellness & undergraduate instructor of exercise physiology for Barry University, Miami, Fl from 1999 to 2004. In 2007, she joined the Western Area YMCA of Pittsburgh, where she was the Director of Health & Wellness.
Shannon earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in1997 and a Master’s of Clinical Exercise Physiology degree in 1999 from the University of Florida. She is a certified Spinning instructor through MADD Dog Athletics and has taught group fitness classes including kickboxing, body sculpting, yoga, and Pilates for over 10 years. Her husband, Shane Chaplin, is a PhD student in the Clinical Psychology program at Duquesne, and they have a son, Spencer.
Jason Brailey
Coordinator of Intramurals
Jason earned a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Slippery Rock University in May 2004. After graduation Jason worked as an Intern for the Department of Athletics and Recreation at the University of Rhode Island.
He then attended the University of Kentucky where he earned a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotion. During that time he was an Intramural Graduate Assistant in Campus Recreation. He and his wife Andrea reside in Mt. Lebanon. |
