In addition, Smolsky took the First Place Best Advocate award at the Philadelphia Regional in February and the Second Place Best Advocate at the subsequent National Final in Washington, D.C. in April.

The team won the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition (Philadelphia Region) in February, earning one of only 24 spots in the National Finals. The National Finals were held in April in Washington, D.C. At the National Final, Smolsky, Swank, and Muscante argued on and off brief two times in the preliminary rounds and advanced to the Octofinal Round, where they beat a skilled team from Regent Law School to earn a spot in the quarterfinal round. During the quarterfinal round, the team faced a strong team from Texas Tech and lost in a very close split decision (4 ballots to 3 ballots). The team earned accolades from judges, practicing attorneys, and coaches for their knowledge of the law and record as well as their advocacy skills and professionalism.

Please join us in congratulating Dan, Aubri, and Falco on these tremendous accomplishments! Congratulations also to Professor Erin Karsman who coached the team and directs the Appellate Moot Court Board program.
