The loss of Shayna Bennett,1L, has touched the Duquesne Kline School of Law community deeply. Students, faculty, staff, and friends across the community showed an outpouring of love and remembrance. In that spirit, and with the loving guidance of her family, Duquesne Kline School of Law is honored to share a tribute initiative designed to ensure that Shayna's memory endures for years to come.

Shayna Bennett
Duquesne Kline School of Law is working to establish a scholarship in Shayna's name for incoming law students who share her passion for public service and her unwavering dedication to advocating for children. Shayna aspired to use her law degree to give every child a voice and to leave no child unseen or unheard. She possessed a rare and beautiful clarity of purpose, and we hope that her name will serve as a source of inspiration for future students who feel called to that same meaningful work. To create a scholarship of this kind, Duquesne Kline School of Law is seeking to raise a minimum of $50,000, with an aspirational goal of $100,000.

President Ken Gormley has expressed how deeply meaningful this initiative is as a tribute to Shayna herself and a reflection of the values that define our law school community. He has been working closely with Mr. Tom Kline, L'78, namesake and most generous supporter, to help bring this effort to life in the most impactful way possible. Together, they share a conviction that our community is capable of something extraordinary in Shayna's honor.

To that end, Mr. Kline has graciously offered to match every dollar we raise to achieve our goal. His generosity is an extraordinary gift, and our hope is a simple and beautiful one: that every member of the Duquesne Kline School of Law community will contribute something, in whatever amount they are able, as a collective expression of love and support for Shayna and her family.

How to Give

Duquesne Kline School of Law is launching a memorial giving campaign that welcomes contributions at any level. Gifts may be made by cash or check, through a multi-year pledge, or by any method that is most convenient for you. A dedicated giving page has been established in Shayna's name, making it easy for friends and family outside the law school community to join us in honoring her as well. You are warmly invited to participate in whatever way you are able, and consider sharing it with others who were touched by Shayna's presence and would welcome the opportunity to honor her in this lasting way.

Thank you

Thank you to all who have donated. So far, we have reached $12,100.03 of our $50,000 goal.
