Biography

April Milburn-Knizner is the associate director of bar studies and assistant professor of legal skills. She joined Duquesne University School of Law as an adjunct professor in 2010. She currently teaches first-year Legal Research and Writing, and, as part of the law school's Bar Studies Program, teaches Core and Applied Competencies to third-year students preparing to sit for the Pennsylvania bar examination. She also serves as a bar exam advisor to Themis Bar Review and as a faculty advisor to students completing their upper-level writing requirement.

Milburn-Knizner holds a B.A. in psychology from Gettysburg College and a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. After earning her law degree, she practiced for seven years with the Pittsburgh law firm of Babst, Calland, Clements & Zomnir, P.C. (now Babst Calland), where she focused on environmental litigation and environmental regulatory law. She has been recognized in Pennsylvania Super Lawyers-Rising Stars for her practice in the field, and is published in both the Pennsylvania Environmental Law Supplement and the second edition of the American Bar Association's "Implementing Institutional Controls at Brownfields and Other Contaminated Sites."

Milburn-Knizner lives with her husband and two sons in Murrysville, Pennsylvania and currently serves on the board of directors of Laurel Legal Services, Inc., a non-profit corporation that provides free legal services to low-income individuals and families.
