Biography

Dr. Asit Misra is a physician-educator and healthcare simulation expert whose work advances the science of experiential learning in medical education. He serves as Clinical Director of the Simulation and Standardized Patient Program and also as an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Medical Education at Duquesne University Nasuti College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pittsburgh, PA.

Previously, he served as Assistant Professor of Surgery (Division of Emergency Medicine) and Assistant Director of the Prehospital and Emergency Training Division at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine's Gordon Center for Simulation and Innovation in Medical Education. He earned his medical degree from Tver State Medical University and a master's degree in medical education (MSMEd) from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania (2021). He completed an American College of Surgeons–accredited Surgical Simulation Fellowship in Columbus, Ohio (2019) and an American College of Emergency Physicians Teaching Fellowship in Dallas, Texas (2018). He is a Fellow of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (FSSH) and a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).

Dr. Misra has authored more than 25 peer-reviewed publications and has contributed to national resuscitation curricula for the American Heart Association. He serves as a Section Editor for the Western Journal of Emergency Medicine and as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Healthcare Simulation and sits on the editorial boards of several academic journals. His scholarship examines the outcomes and impact of simulation-based education, assessment, and program evaluation, with the goal of strengthening how clinicians are trained and evaluated.
