Biography
Prof. Sprowls provides research assistance, and outreach services, primarily for Thomas
R. Kline School of Law Students, but also Kline School of Law faculty and staff, Greater
Duquesne Univeristy, Local Legal Community, and the General Public. He provides orientation
support for the 1L LRW program. In addition, he supervises Student Assistants, the
Center's evening and weekend supervisor, and provides reference services and project
coordination. Prof. Sprowls is the editor of DCLIBeat, the official electronic newsletter
of the Duquesne Center for Legal Information. His role as Head of Information Access
and Student Services provides electronic and print legal research services to Kline
School of Law Students, coordinates student training initiatives, and takes a leading
role with student organizations; Develops and administers training for law journal
staff; Presents student training sessions on Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, and other
essential legal research databases; Participates in student and adjunct faculty orientation
& liaison programs; Co-Teaches the Upper Level "Research for Law Practice" course
offered through DCLI; Develops student research support guides and videos; Organizes
special outreach and training projects; Presents news, developments, and resource
access information to students by publishing e-newsletters, web pages, electronic
message boards, and other media; Serves as the DCLI/ACLL representative in the DU
Faculty Senate; Maintains inventory of physical plant, ensuring the library's accessibility
and functionality; Active member of the management team, and supervises Staff & Student
Assistant positions. He teaches Legal Research Methods with the Paralegal Institute,
as well as undergraduate Pre Law legal research and writing courses.
