Hilliary Sismondo is a Northeast Ohio native, with roots in Youngstown, OH. She completed her undergraduate studies in combined sciences at Youngstown State University, as part of the B.S./M.D. program through Northeast Ohio Medical University. She subsequently went on to obtain her medical degree from NEOMED in 2013. Upon graduating medical school, she moved to Upstate New York to complete her residency in Pediatrics at SUNY Upstate Medical University.

Since completing her residency in 2016, she has practiced in multiple different clinical settings, including outpatient pediatrics, inpatient pediatrics, and urgent care. Regardless of the setting, she is passionate about providing high quality medical care and preventive services to underserved and marginalized populations.

Dr. Sismondo began her career in medical education in 2019 at the New York Institute of Technology College of Medicine (NYITCOM), Arkansas campus. During her time at NYITCOM, she served as clinical clerkship director of the third-year pediatric clerkship and fourth-year pediatric elective. She also played a large role in developing pediatric didactic lectures and facilitated labs regarding history taking and physical exam skills with the first and second-year students. Of all the subjects she has taught, she most enjoys assisting students in developing their clinical reasoning skills.

In January 2024, Dr. Sismondo will begin her role as Division Chief of Pediatrics at DUQCOM. She looks forward to developing the pediatric curriculum from the ground up, and she is excited to work with the university and its clinical affiliates to serve the surrounding community.
