Biography
Dr. Jamie McConaha is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Duquesne University
School of Pharmacy. After earning her PharmD from Duquesne, she completed a two-year
academic teaching and research fellowship focused on curriculum development, instructional
design, and clinical research. During this time, she created and launched a dermatology
and cosmeceuticals elective, which remains part of the curriculum today.
Dr. McConaha currently practices as an embedded ambulatory care pharmacist with Allegheny
Health Network in Pittsburgh. In this collaborative setting, she works alongside primary
care providers to manage a broad range of chronic conditions, including diabetes,
hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and tobacco use disorder. Her clinical services include
comprehensive medication management, diabetes education, transitions of care consultations,
and both individual and group tobacco cessation counseling. She is passionate about
advancing pharmacist integration in team-based care and expanding access to clinical
pharmacy services in the outpatient setting.
Dr. McConaha is a recognized educator in dermatology and has taught extensively on
topics such as acne, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, rosacea, and cosmeceutical therapies.
In addition to her elective course, she provides instruction on dermatologic conditions
in required therapeutics and self-care courses. She has delivered numerous invited
national and international presentations in this area, including continuing education
programs for Pharmacy Times, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP),
the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP), and VuMedi. Her expertise has made her
a sought-after speaker on emerging therapies in dermatologic care.
Her professional service includes national roles as a content matter expert for the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Preparatory Review and Recertification Course, where she has contributed annually since 2015. She also serves on national advisory boards and workgroups dedicated to advancing tobacco treatment practice and training, including serving as a faculty member and coordinator of the Duquesne University Tobacco Treatment Specialist certification program.
