at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. He then received his Ph.D. in Molecular Virology
and Microbiology at the University of Pittsburgh where his research focused on the
purification and characterization of the herpes simplex virus type 1 terminase complex;
a protein complex that is essential for HSV-1 capsid assembly and DNA packaging processes.
Dr. Heming's primary interests remain within the fields of microbiology, molecular
biology, and biochemistry, and he is passionate about equipping future scientists
and medical professionals with the concepts and skills required to excel within these
