Biography

Julian Neiser is an adjunct professor in the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University's Law’s Trial Advocacy Program, where he has taught and coached trial teams since 2004. He was awarded the Adjunct Professor of the Year award in 2017.

Neiser is a partner with Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC, where he is Vice Chair of Litigation, Co-Chair of the Construction Group, and Chair of the ADR Section. His practice focuses on commercial litigation, which includes cases involving construction, contracts, insurance coverage, intellectual property, trade secrets, and employment defense. He also frequently responds to OSHA issues and assists construction clients during the project lifecycle to administer contracts, resolve disputes, and avoid claims. He previously was a litigation attorney with Meyer, Unkovic & Scott; Tucker Arensberg; and McGuireWoods;  and served as the general counsel of The Rhodes Group, an international construction claims consulting company.

Neiser has tried numerous cases to verdict in state/federal court, as well as before private arbitration panels. He is a certified mediator in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and is a member of the AAA Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators. He is rated AV Preeminent (Martindale Hubbell) and named to the Best Lawyers in America (construction; construction litigation) by his peers. He is a past chair of the ACBA Construction Law section and is a council member for the ACBA Civil Litigation Section.

While a student at Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University's Law from 1997-2001 (evening), Neiser competed in the ATLA trial competition and the Weschler First Amendment Appellate Moot Court competition. He was elected to the Order of Barristers and received the advocacy award from the International Academy of Trial Attorneys. He was the first recipient of the John J. Sciullo Peer Excellency Award and served as Joseph Sabino Mistick’s research assistant every year while a student. He was Editor-in-Chief of the Business Law Journal.

Prior to law school, Neiser was a reporter with the Associated Press and The Pittsburgh Business Times. He also is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
