Biography

Kathryn Eberle Cotter, M.M.T., M.T.-B.C., M.F.T. (she/her) completed her undergraduate degree in Music Therapy and Spanish from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. This has allowed her to work professionally in a variety of bilingual settings (English/Spanish). After becoming a board-certified music therapist and enjoying a variety of fulfilling employment opportunities, Kathryn pursued higher education with a specific focus in systems theory and practice. She completed a dual graduate program, earning a Master of Music Therapy from Slippery Rock University and a Master of Marriage and Family Therapy from Seton Hill University. Her practice has included diverse settings such as hospice and palliative care, bereavement, inpatient psychiatric care, family based community youth programming, migrant youth, supplemental education, incarcerated youth, veterans, and couples and family therapy. Kathryn has published and presented on several aspects of her clinical work including the intersectionality of identity, systems theory in music therapy, family and community music therapy, program development, and songwriting in grief and loss. Currently, she works part time providing group therapy services in an intensive outpatient program and full time in her private therapy practice, Create and Connect Collaborative Therapy Services.  A key focus of Kathryn's practice is her passion for accessibility to mental health services and overall wellness resources, aiming to achieve this for individuals, families, and communities.
