Biography

Kevin A. Henderson, Ph.D., is the associate director of the Honors College and director of the Office of Student Fellowships at Duquesne University; on July 1, 2026, he will become director of the Honors College. He founded the Office of Student Fellowships in 2023, where his work centers on helping students develop as scholars, thinkers, and competitors for some of the nation's most prestigious academic opportunities, including the Goldwater, Fulbright, Critical Language, and Truman fellowships.

Kevin holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Comparative and International Education from Columbia University, along with degrees from Fordham University, Alliance Theological Seminary, and Nyack College. His research sits at the intersection of power, ideas, and education policy, examining how organizations use narratives about the future to shape what counts as a problem in education, what counts as a solution, and who gets positioned as central to reform.

Before joining Duquesne in July 2023, Kevin spent over eight years at the United Board, an international non-governmental organization based in New York and Hong Kong, where he served as program director of digital content and programming. He designed and managed professional development programs for faculty and administrators across Asia, and his work took him to campuses in Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, and beyond. He serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Fellowships Advisors (NAFA), is a member of the Comparative and International Education Society and a co-founder of its Southeast Asia Special Interest Group, and is the former editor-in-chief of Current Issues in Comparative Education.

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Kevin now lives in Pittsburgh with his wife, their four children, and a cat. Outside of work, he writes and records music, follows baseball closely, and returns to New York's Hudson Valley whenever he can.
