Biography

Prior to her arrival at Duquesne University, Dr. Blair served three years as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at Youngstown State University. The author, co-author, and editor of nearly 100 publications on gender and technology, online learning, electronic portfolios, and graduate education, Dr. Blair currently serves as editor of both the international print journal Computers and Composition and its separate companion journal Computers and Composition Online. With a research focus in digital rhetoric and writing, Dr. Blair is a recipient of the Conference on College Composition and Communication's (CCCC) Technology Innovator Award and the Computers and Composition Charles Moran Award for Distinguished Contributions to the Field. Dr. Blair's most recent book, Technofeminist Storiographies: Women, Information Technology, and Cultural Representation challenges larger rhetorics of technological innovation that exclude women's historical and contemporary contributions.

From 1996-2016, Dr. Blair was a member of the doctoral program in Rhetoric and Writing at Bowling Green State University, where she also served as English Department Chair from 2005-2014. In addition to her courses in cultural studies, multimodal composing, research methods, and scholarly publishing, she also developed and taught computer literacy courses for older adults and developed and co-directed the Digital Mirror Computer Camp for Girls, a nationally-funded initiative for which she received BGSU's President's Award for Collaborative Research with Graduate Students. As a graduate educator, Dr. Blair has served on over 100 dissertation committees and served as the national Chair of the CCCC Consortium of Doctoral Programs in Rhetoric and Composition from 2014-2016. She received BGSU Graduate Student Senate's Outstanding Contributor to Graduate Education Award in 2004 and 2009, along with a doctoral advisee award for her supervision of BGSU's award-winning dissertation in the Humanities in 2015.

A former faculty Senate Chair at BGSU, in 2014 Dr. Blair received BGSU's Women of Distinction Award as well as the BGSU Faculty Senate Award for Leadership as a Department Chair. In 2017, she was named a Distinguished Woman Scholar by her doctoral alma mater, Purdue University, and she received the 2017 Lisa Ede Mentoring Award from the Coalition of Feminist Scholars in the History of Rhetoric and Composition.
