Biography

Michela Hall, M.F.A., is an assistant professor of media focusing in visual media. She has served as a media consultant for the Patricia Doherty Yoder Institute of Ethics and Integrity in Journalism and Media and as a fellow for the Digital Storytelling Lab of the Carl G. Grefenstette Center for Ethics in Science, Technology and Law. She continues to produce "Ethically Speaking," a podcast sponsored by the Yoder Institute, which has been a finalist in the 2026 Golden Quill Awards of The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania.

Prior to her current title, Hall was an adjunct instructor in the media department while running her own freelance photography, videography and social media management services. She also produced "Yajagoff! Late Night" in conjunction with KDKA, which has been a finalist in the 2026 Golden Quill Awards of The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania. She has produced an educational documentary series with the Duquesne Nursing School in conjunction with FISA, as well as created content for organizations such as Cordia Energy, the American Diabetes Association and Yinz Are Good's Tressa Tries series sponsored by Dick's House of Sport. She has also taught digital photography at Community College of Allegheny County.

Hall's research focuses on media representation and gender studies as well as alternative lifestyle culture. Her M.F.A. capstone project explored the gender roles in American motorcycle culture and how hobbies, mannerisms and even language can be gendered through social construct based in multimedia exposure.
