Biography

Professor Emerita Nancy Perkins retired from the law school in 2019. Perkins formerly served as the law school's Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in 2009, the endowed Noble J. Dick Chair in Academic Leadership, and as a Professor of Law. Perkins joined the law school in 1993 and has taught courses in property, environmental law, environmental justice, Pennsylvania administrative law and administrative process, as well as advanced legal research writing. Her scholarship explores the intersection of property and environmental law, with a special focus on sustainability, equity, and feminism. 

Perkins has served as vice chair of the Sustainable Pennsylvania Program for the Pennsylvania Consortium for Interdisciplinary Environmental Policy and as a member of the Executive Council of the Environmental Law Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association. 

Perkins has authored numerous articles for law reviews and journals nationwide, and co-authored a report submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection by the Sustainable Pennsylvania Program of the Pennsylvania Consortium for Interdisciplinary Environmental Policy.

She has served the law school in various roles, including as advisor to the law school's Environmental Law Society, coach of the National Environmental Law Moot Court Team, and as an advisor to the Women's Law Association and the Student Bar Association. 

Perkins is also a member of the Florida Bar Association and the Association of American Law Schools.
