Biography

Reverend Peter I. Osuji is a Spiritan and a full-time Duquesne University Center for Global Health Ethics faculty member. He studied theology and religious knowledge at the Missionary Institute in London, England (Affiliate of Katholieke Universiteit Te Leuven) and obtained an STB and M.A., respectively, in 1989. The following year, he traveled to Ethiopia for nine years as a Missionary and worked as a school principal, a community development agent, and as an evangelizer. He was appointed back to Nigeria, where served as the Director of and formator at the Spiritan Postulancy Akabo and in the Regional Administration of his order.  He earned his M.A. in Healthcare Ethics at Duquesne University in 2008, while working as a campus minister at Duquesne University Spiritan Campus Ministry.  He obtained his Ph.D. in Healthcare Ethics at Duquesne University in 2013 and, later that year, was appointed a faculty member at Duquesne. His research areas include global bioethics, ethics of care, African bioethics.  He also teaches undergraduate healthcare ethics courses in both the theology and philosophy departments.
