Biography

Susan L. Barrett is the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Monte Nido & Affiliates, a national leader in the treatment of eating disorders for adults and adolescents of all genders.  Monte Nido has over 50 programs across the country offering a full continuum of care, including inpatient, residential, and in-person and virtual day treatment programs.  Susan began her career in big law and believes her corporate transactions background has served her well as a business partner to the executive team in-house.

Susan is passionate about mentorship and has taught as an adjunct professor at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University since 2019.  She also serves as a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters.  She has won numerous awards for her achievements, including the Pittsburgh Business Times’ 30 Under 30 (2019), McGuireWoods Excellence Award (2019), Best Lawyers’ One to Watch (2021 & 2022), and the University of Dayton’s 10 Under 10 (2023) and Modern Counsel's 35 Under 35 (2024). When not working, Susan enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and dog, as well as running and hiking and traveling. 

While earning her law degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, magna cum laude, Susan was actively involved in the Pitt Law Review as a published member and as both a research assistant and teaching assistant to the Pitt Law Director of Legal Research and Writing, as well as an intern for the Pennsylvania Superior Court.  At the University of Dayton, Susan graduated summa cum laude from the University Honors Program with a triple major in English, Economics, and Communication.
