Biography
Tom Cocchi is an adjunct professor at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University and a practicing attorney with Husch Blackwell LLP, where he serves as part of the NCC team for toxic tort litigation in Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He serves as part of the bar studies program, helping to implement comprehensive bar preparation programming, with a pedagogical emphasis on improving student performance and bar passage outcomes.
Mr. Cocchi graduated magna cum laude from the Thomas R. Kline School of Law School of Law in 2016. During law school, he held editorial leadership roles with both Duquesne Law Review and Juris Magazine. He also participated in national appellate moot court competitions and served as Treasurer of the Appellate Moot Court Executive Board. He received the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence and the Gerald K. Gibson Memorial Award. He was also inducted into the Louis L. Manderino Honor Society and earned Pro Bono Program recognition.
Since entering practice, Mr. Cocchi has developed a breadth of experience in civil litigation, ranging from insurance defense to mass torts and workers’ compensation. Prior to joining Husch Blackwell, he held positions at respected Pittsburgh firms in and gained early career experience through a judicial clerkship and public sector externship.
In addition to his legal and academic work, Mr. Cocchi is an active member of the bar and his local community. He has held leadership roles in the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, served as an editor for the Pennsylvania Bar Association Civil Litigation Section Newsletter, and frequently presents and moderates continuing legal education programs. He is also a published author in both scholarly and professional legal publications.
Outside the courtroom and classroom, Mr. Cocchi is involved in numerous charitable organizations, including the Knights of Columbus. He also serves on the Saint Vincent College Alumni Council.
Mr. Cocchi is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia, as well as before the Supreme Court of the United States.
