From First-Year Student to Student Government Association President

A sociology major, Nick began his first semester as president during his sophomore year. He spent the first few months of his term focused on strengthening the student experience through collaboration and open communication. He also focused on ensuring students feel safe and supported, both in sharing feedback and in their daily campus experience. 

“I believe the most effective element of Student Government is Open Forum, where any student at this university can share concerns or ideas to solve an issue,” he said. “That’s where problems come to light and solutions are created through collaboration.” 

Nick also advanced initiatives that allow all students to thrive. 

“Our Spiritan mission reminds me that kindness builds hope and helps create a safe environment. In SGA, everyone will be heard and accepted because that’s how it should be,” he said. 

Outside the classroom, Nick gained experience in public service as a first-year student through his work on a Pittsburgh mayoral campaign. 

“Working on a mayoral campaign was a rewarding and educational experience,” he said. “I learned that public service takes many forms and begins with listening first.”
