Duquesne is Uniting for the United Way during the University’s 2023-2024 fundraising campaign to serve our local community.
The United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania helps tens of thousands of families meet basic needs and assists disabled individuals and seniors gain employment and live independently.
All University employees are invited to participate through an easy payroll deduction. Employees who donate a minimum of $2 per pay will be entered into fun drawings and invited to United Way events. Funds can be designated to a local agency of your choice or one of 11 Duquesne-designated agencies. Visit the University’s United Way webpage for more information.
This year’s campaign is led by co-chairs Dr. Sara Baron, University librarian, and Melissa Jackman, assistant director of the service management office, with Denise Sciulli, employee campaign manager. The campaign will again feature a variety of Duquesne-sponsored campus events and activities to attend, including the always-popular 10th Annual Cops & Chefs BBQ.
Scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Cops & Chefs BBQ lunch tickets can be purchased online for $11. The meal includes a smoked pulled pork sandwich, Carl’s famous smoky baked beans, a jalapeno cornbread muffin, coleslaw, a cookie and bottled water. All proceeds benefit the United Way.
