In partnership with the Association of Supply Chain Management (ASCM) Pittsburgh Forum, the Center for Excellence in Supply Chain Management in the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business held its second annual case competition on Nov. 11 in Rockwell Hall.
Ten teams from seven schools, including Duquesne, competed for $5,000 in cash awards
courtesy of ASCM Pittsburgh Forum.
Students had three hours to solve a case. Following the case, they had six minutes
to present their findings to a panel of three corporate judges and five minutes to
answer judges’ questions.
A team from Carnegie Mellon University won the first-place award, followed by impressive
performances by teams from Robert Morris University, St. Vincent College and Duquesne.
A survey was distributed following the event, and Duquesne students provided positive
feedback about how they used the competition as an opportunity to learn together.
“I enjoyed using the acquired knowledge and ways of thinking I have gained from my
courses here at Duquesne and applying it to come up with real-world solutions to the
case study.”
“It was interesting to explore different parts of the supply chain of a global company
and try to find innovative solutions as a team.”
