The 2024 Alumni Homecoming and Family Weekend celebrated Dukes through the Decades, welcoming Duquesne alumni and families back to the Bluff.
Drinks and dancing at Duquesne ushered in the Friday Night Spectacular, honoring the many eras on the Bluff. Alumni and families disco-reminisced about the '70s, recalled the big-haired, yuppie-driven '80s, returned to the alternative-rock, pop-culture-driven '90s, and even recollected the social-media nascent, globalized 2000s. Attendees did all that and more at this main event, built around favorite tunes, with craft beer, wine, and signature cocktails—culminating in a dazzling fireworks show by Zambelli in the skies above campus.
On Saturday, alumni and families enjoyed games at AutumnFest, gathered in the Homecoming Village for a festive tailgate luncheon, welcomed back Homecoming Courts of the past, reunited and celebrated the Class of 1974 after 50-years, roared during a Rally to Rooney with special guests Santonio Holmes from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Norm Nixon, Duquesne Alum and former NBA All-Star, and cheered the defending conference champion Dukes to a 47-21 win over Long Island University.
One of the most popular spots this year was in front of the Union, where the 2024 Atlantic 10 men’s basketball championship trophy was displayed with the Northeast Conference championship trophies for both football and women’s bowling.
In addition to unforgettable classic offerings, the weekend included surprises and other opportunities to reconnect—in fun ways—with everything you love about Duquesne University. The collective sentiment that echoed again and again was clear, "Let's do this again!"
