Donors from across the United States and from as far as England, Australia and Italy helped break records during the ninth annual Duquesne Day of Giving.
Held Feb. 7, the 2024 Duquesne Day of Giving raised a record-high $798,266 through 1,562 gifts. In addition, more than $290,000 was donated through the various challenges issued as part of the campaign. Some donors even gave more than once, according to Hillary Moore, director of annual giving.
“Our entire community came together—alumni, parents, friends, faculty and staff, and students,” said Moore, noting that alumni were by far the largest group of supporters of this year’s campaign, with young alumni also making a nice showing.
For the first time, this year’s Day of Giving included an on-campus event that primarily targeted students, faculty and staff. “It was very successful,” Moore said. “Interest was high, and we’re laying the foundation for years to come by building philanthropic awareness.”
Angelica Petrisko, assistant director of annual giving, helped oversee the inaugural on-campus event and was pleased with its positive impact. “United in purpose, our faculty and staff led by example on Duquesne’s 9th annual Day of Giving, showcasing the heart of our university's commitment to excellence,” Petrisko said. “Their generosity sets a standard, inspiring us all to reach our bigger goals.”
