Web editors from departments and schools across campus applied strategic webpage updates to help increase visibility of key University webpages when prospective students and families search for information about Duquesne on the web.
The May 14 Spring Webathon, a collaborative half-day workshop, is hosted in collaboration with the provost’s office and the Division of Marketing and Communications.
As the only 24/7 resource for prospective students, families and community partners, the website is the University’s primary engine for marketing, recruitment and other business functions. The Duquesne web community worked collaboratively to identify and thoughtfully apply keywords that prospective students and families use to search for program information, as well as information related to tuition, admission, campus life and student opportunities. Optimizing webpages in this way increases content visibility in search engine results. The higher the page is listed in search results, more people are likely to see it, resulting in more visits to the page.
The spring webathon is the third bi-annual gathering of the campus-wide web community, continuing to make gains toward the University’s marketing, recruiting and enrollment goals. Previous webathon events have optimized priority webpages for Google search, user experience and best practices.
