Duquesne University is pleased to announce a new partnership with FedEx Office to provide comprehensive printing services to the campus community.
Starting in the fall 2025 semester, faculty and staff will be able to access an online portal to order printed materials. The Division of Marketing and Communications will manage the portal to ensure high quality, compliance with brand standards and oversight of related services for branded material.
A process to transition from the current print services office to the FedEx portal and production process will begin in May 2025, following commencement. The system is expected to be fully operational by the upcoming fall semester. Campus partners who work with the Division of Marketing and Communications will continue to do so through their respective staff contacts.
“This collaboration should help streamline printing requests, offer more printing options to campus partners, and help improve brand and image consistency for all users,” said Gabe Welsch, vice president of marketing and communications.
Details about the transition will be shared closer to the end of the semester, with initial prototyping of a portal and user training occurring initially with marketing and communications staff, then with heavy print users and then more generally with faculty and staff in a wider process.
“FedEx Office has extensive experience working with universities both locally and nationwide,” said Matt Frist, senior vice president for finance and business. “Their capabilities for enhancing user experiences and making the most of new technologies gives us more flexibility and greater selection for print products to meet our goals.”
FedEx Office can provide a wide range of production needs, from simple to complex, including commonly ordered items such as:
- Business cards and stationery
- Presentations, manuals, booklets, training materials and other professional items
- Brochures and flyers
- Newsletters and magazines
- Education material
- Signs and graphics (banners, posters, signage)
- Direct mail.
FedEx Office has more capabilities than those listed above, and the University expects to explore those offerings and make them available as familiarity with the system grows.
The partnership is supported by a local FedEx Office sales support team as well as local operational support. An electronic portal will streamline ordering, for which training will soon be provided to authorized users. FedEx Office expects that next day delivery will be available for the majority of departmental projects.
“We recognize this represents a culture change and a new system, and we’re working closely with FedEx Office with the aim to make this as seamless as possible for the benefit of our campus partners,” said Welsch.
The University will share more information shortly on the timeline for roll-out and about specific ordering product options and processes.
