With respiratory viruses like the flu and COVID-19 making their seasonal rounds, consider talking to your health care provider about whether getting vaccinated is right for you.
The Center for Pharmacy Care and Duquesne Health Services are teaming up to offer opportunities to get the influenza and COVID-19 vaccines at campus.
Influenza (The Flu)
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine every season. It provides important benefits, including reducing flu illnesses, visits to doctor’s offices and missed work and school. Receiving this vaccine also can lessen severity of symptoms and reduce flu-related complications and hospitalizations.
COVID-19
The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) recommends that all adults get at least one dose of the 2025-26 COVID-19 vaccine. Staying up to date on COVID-19 vaccines can lower the risk of getting very sick from COVID-19. Visit the AAFP’s Fall Immunization Recommendations page for more information.
Influenza and COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following Thursdays:
- Oct. 16, Gilliand Pavilion, second floor, UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse
- Oct. 23, Africa Room, Student Union
- Oct. 30, Student Union Ballroom.
Vaccines are covered for all employees with Duquesne University benefits. Employees can schedule an individual appointment by emailing or calling the Center for Pharmacy Care at 412-396-2155.
