Gormley Named C-Suite Honoree

He joins a distinguished group of 23 regional leaders recognized for their exceptional executive leadership and community impact. The award celebrates Gormley’s visionary stewardship since becoming University president in 2016—a tenure that is marked by transformative milestones.

This award speaks to the incredible momentum we’ve built at Duquesne,” said Gormley. “And this honor reflects the collective spirit of our entire University community and the bigger goals we've pursued—and accomplished—together.”

With experience spanning law, academia, writing and administrative leadership, Gormley’s work reflects a passion for progress and service that drives Duquesne’s commitment of service to the community and more broadly.

As he prepares to transition into the role of chancellor in July of 2026, Gormley remains deeply engaged in shaping the University’s future. In his new capacity, he will focus on special projects, including Duquesne’s upcoming 150th anniversary, while continuing to foster relationships with alumni, donors and civic leaders. 

Reflecting on his presidency to the Pittsburgh Business Times, Gormley shared that his most cherished moments include engaging with students, celebrating athletic achievements, visiting alums around the country and watching his own children graduate from Duquesne. 

“I love dealing with students. They have so much energy, so much optimism. It inspires me every day,” Gormley said. “Going to the NCAA tournament in men’s basketball for the first time in 47 years, that was a thrill. Opening a new College of Osteopathic Medicine, that was a very important moment. But I have to say, seeing some of my own kids walk across the stage at graduation as a dad, it doesn’t get any better than that.”
