The Division of Marketing and Communications (DMC) has been recognized with four prestigious CUPPIE Awards from the College and University Public Relations and Associated Professionals (CUPRAP), while the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University also received a CUPPIE.
The CUPPIE Awards celebrate creative excellence in marketing and communications, and highlight the work of higher education member institutions in categories such as advertising, electronic media, print, public relations and marketing, writing and photography.
Duquesne’s exceptional work across a range of disciplines earned the team recognition in several categories for projects including:
- Gold Award–Executive Communications, Division of Marketing and Communications: School of Education Op-Ed: "Don't Praise Teachers for Being Selfless"
- Bronze Award–Website Feature, Division of Marketing and Communications: Goldwater Scholars
- Bronze Award–Special Events/Virtual Events, Division of Marketing and Communications: Bob Dylan: Music, Lyrics and the Law
- Bronze Award–Writing/Long-Form Story, Thomas R. Kline School of Law: "Serving Second Chances”
- Honorable Mention–Admissions Viewbooks, Division of Marketing and Communications: 2025 Series of Undergraduate Viewbooks (English and Spanish).
“I’m proud of the team for their outstanding work, and we’re proud collectively to share what makes Duquesne a great place to learn, grow and thrive,” said Gabe Welsch, vice president of marketing and communications. “This recognition honors the strategic partnerships, creativity and care that drive our work and allow us to tell the University’s story.”
In addition to the CUPPIE Awards, Amanda Drumm, director of marketing and communications at Duquesne Kline School of Law, was honored with the Don Hale Award, which recognizes a CUPRAP member who has made significant contributions to the organization.
These awards represent a highly competitive field, with more than 400 entries submitted. They also demonstrate DMC’s commitment to creative and effective marketing and communication that support the mission, values and brand of Duquesne University.
