Dr. Faina Linkov, associate professor in the John G. Rangos, Sr. School of Health Sciences, has been named a 2026-2027 Fulbright U.S. Scholar with a placement in Kazakhstan. She also has been appointed to the Fulbright Specialist Program roster—a selective distinction recognizing sustained expertise and leadership in her field.

During her Fulbright experience, Linkov will advance chronic disease research while teaching and mentoring in epidemiology, research methods and academic publishing.

Her work in Kazakhstan will strengthen international partnerships, support sustained scholarly exchange and expand shared solutions to pressing public health challenges. This builds on her long‑standing engagement in the region, including research on cancer prevention, nutritional deficiencies and post‑pandemic public health effects.

A multidisciplinary researcher, Linkov’s recent work involves quantitative and qualitative investigations of staff turnover in long term care settings with the goal of improving elderly patient care. She also has served on panels for Engaging Scientists in Central Asia on Data Governance Principles for Life Science Data, organized by The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.

“Dr. Linkov’s appointment to the Fulbright Specialist Program further underscores her influence as a thought leader, whose expertise is sought to address complex health challenges,” said Dr. Fevzi Akinci, dean of the Rangos School. “Her work not only elevates the global profile of the Rangos School of Health Sciences but also exemplifies how Duquesne faculty translate research into meaningful, international impact.”
